Have you ever wondered why there isn't already a community center in Dryden? Have you attended a pancake breakfast at the Varna Community Association or a party at the Brooktondale Community Center and thought to yourself, why don't we have this in Dryden? As a parent, have you considered enrolling your child in music lessons only to be frustrated by how far you have to drive to find an instructor? Have you ever tried to sign up for a program at the library but were told that the space was full? Have you attended a performance at the high school and wished that there were more opportunities to see live theater in Dryden?
There are so many reasons to have a community center. In addition to meals, classes, workshops, and events, this also gives people a place to throw a family party or hold a meeting. Social service agencies can have a place to meet clients or provide information. Everyone involved in the Dryden Center for Community is so excited to be able to bring these things to our community!
How do you want to get involved? Can you donate money to help with the purchase of the building and our initial expenses? Do you have ideas for classes or workshops? Do you want to help in the kitchen for our next community dinner? Look for the Dryden Community Center logo at upcoming community events like the Freeville Harvest Festival and the Dryden Community Connections event at Hopshire on September 6th to talk about your ideas. You can also contact us anytime at info@drydencenter.org.
